System & Application Architect

The System and Application Architect is accountable to the System and Infrastructure Manager for the development and implementation of a consolidated architecture strategy and roadmap for this major Program. The position is accountable for day to day decisions relating to allocated tasks and projects within the scope of the Unit’s overall strategies and objectives.  

Key Accountabilities; 

• Design, develop and implement the IT strategy for the Program  
  


• Develop reference architectures aligned with the IT strategy; based on mapping, analysing, and defining future applications for the business, application and technology architectures  
  


• Inform the strategy and architectures (business, application, data and technical) by deriving it from the business requirements; identified through stakeholder interviews, documentation-review-adoption-ownership of requirements  
  


• Define as-is and to-be enterprise architecture; manage the delivery to the target landscape; and design the required transition plan  
  


• Implement the plan by launching new programs and modifying existing programs- in business, application and technology architectures  
  


• Develop a high level Architecture roadmap which is based on required business and change program timings; and derive further automation programs and programs from the roadmap  
  


• Ensure the design and architecture implementation is supported by the application lifecycle management of the Program.

• Knowledge of emerging technologies. Adept at researching, discovering, developing, and designing technology solutions. Providing the technological vision for the automated tool and blue print of the application.  
  


• Experienced with creating scalable, highly available systems.  
  


• Ability to set scope and deliver quality results.  
  


• High level of personal and professional integrity.  
  


• Well developed skills in process analysis, problem solving and documentation.  
  


• Experience in the implementation of an integrated data collection business system within a medium to large organisation.  
  


• An in depth knowledge of the workings of government and the way it achieves its objectives through the policy process.
